Day 1: Over Doing It a Bit

Welcome to my strength training blog. This space is intended to be a documentation of my workouts and my physical fitness adventures over the next while.

My main focus is going to be learning to use kettlebells but I am also interested in yoga and swimming so there will be a bit of that too. Anything fitness wise is fair game.

So to get started last night I did my first short Kettlebell work out:

(note: not in this order)

5x the Snatch with both hands

5x the Snatch each with the right and then left arms

5x clean, each side

5x tose from one had to the other

I did this with my new 18lb (8 kg) kettlebell. I was doing ok and feeling good up until the last couple reps of the snatch when my wobbeling knees tweaked a bit and pinched. Today my quads are on fire whenever I have to get up out of my chair, fun. So it will be a couple days before I am doing squaty things and then I definitly need to do a few without a cannon ball flinging about, at least until my motion is more smooth and the muscles around my knees are a bit more stable.

Lesson for the day, take it slow, don’t over do it.
