I know you probably don’t really need another reason why HFCS is bad for you but here is one anyway.
It turns out that the caustic soda used to refine HFCS often contains Mercury from when it was manufactured and it is passing this “tasty treat” on to the foods that are sweetened with it. The real kicker, the FDA has had evidence about this for FOUR YEARS!!! For more details and a link to a PDF of the report check out this great post at The Ethicurean.
